The 2019 Festival International du Blues de Tremblant For twenty-six years Tremblant has opened its arms to many Blues and roots related legends like: Buddy Guy, Hubert Sumlin, Ronnie Earl, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Tower of Power, Mavis Staples, James Cotton, Larry McCray, Jimmie Vaughan, Buckwheat Zydeco, Pinetop Perkins, Taj Mahal, Keb Mo, Koko Taylor and so many others. You’d be hard-pressed to find another festival that relentlessly goes on for two weekends for a total of ten consecutive days that’s completely free of admission charges for each and every performance. Furthermore: Tremblant is tucked away in the beautiful Laurentian Mountains where all of the concerts are performed in comfortable/cooler temperatures, featuring scenic outdoor surroundings as a picturesque backdrop. Additionally USA residents enjoy an attractive dollar exchange rate of about 30% on your dollar. Xavier Amin Dphrepaulezz born January 20, 1968 is better known by his stage name Fantastic Negrito. Fantastic Negrito is an American singer-songwriter whose music spans Blues, R&B, and roots music. Negrito’s 2016 album “The Last Days of Oakland” won a Grammy award for Best Contemporary Blues Album. Then lightning struck twice for Fantastic Negrito for his 2019 “Please Don’t Be Dead” which also won another Grammy Award in 2019. Connor’s originally from Worcester, Massachusetts and became interested in Blues music after hearing Buddy Guy and Taj Mahal. Joanna moved to Chicago in 1984 and quickly learnt from the best, sitting in with the likes of James Cotton, Buddy Guy and Junior Wells. Connor launched her own band and debuted with her excellent 1989 inaugural album “Believe It.” A string of acclaimed albums followed, and in 2002 she made her MC label debut with The Joanna Connor Band. Tremblant Festival Director Brian Slack has booked Connor at the Trois-Rivieres Blues Fest in the past and coupled Joanna with the emerging, young and talented guitarist-singer Jamiah Rogers who continues to impress. Rogers’ is definitely made for the stage; he’s wonderful to take photos of and really knows how to work a crowd. The youthful Jamiah is a likely future Blues star and a personality to keep your eyes and ears on. Teaming the seasoned Joanna Connor with the up and coming Jamiah Rogers is just one of the many reasons to continue to visit Tremblant for their annual Blues Fest. TREMBLANT, QUÉBEC, CANADA — The recently concluded 2019 Festival International du Blues de Tremblant was their twenty-sixth edition; it was also my eleventh consecutive year attending and covering
this top-notch and zero-admission charge Blues festival. 2019’s headliners included performers from around the globe, as well as regional artists/performers from Québec and Ontario.
This year’s edition featured world tested Blues artists: Dawn Tyler Watson, Samantha Fish, Eric Gales, Paul Deslauriers, Fantastic Negrito, JP Soars, Steve Marriner, Steve Strongman, Angel Forrest, Joanna Connor, Jamiah Rogers, and more.
